Dr. Simonetta Paloscia, officer of URSI Italy Commission F, received the prestigious 2024 IEEE GRSS Fawwaz Ulaby Distinguished Achievement Award for outstanding contributions to active and passive microwave remote sensing of land processes.

The recipient of the "Roberto Sorrentino" award is Simone Negri (Politecnico di Milano), with the paper titled "Inductively Coupled In-Circuit Measurement of Multiport Admittance Parameters". Honorary mention to Sandra Rodini (Università di Pisa) and Francesco Lestini (Università di Roma Tor Vergata).

Chapter Women in Radio Science
In October 2022, a Chapter Women in Radio Science (WIRS) was established inside the URSI Italian Commission.

Kickoff of WIRS-Italy chapter in Rome
On February, 21st, 2023 the kick off meeting sees the presence of all the member of the chapter. During the meeting the Chair of URSI Italian National Committee, Carlo Carobbi, wanted to share with us his satisfaction to see the realization of the Italian WIRS chapter. We had also the honour of being greeted by the Coordinator of WIRS International, Sana Salous. Here the program of the interesting meeting with our young scientists who presented their very interesting research activities.

URSI-GASS 2023 in Sapporo, August 19st 2023
Our co-chair Prof.ssa Alessandra Costanzo partecipated and presented at URSI-GASS 2023 at the workshop: “WIRS (Women In Radio Science) Chapters: Its Foundation and Future Perspectives”.
URSI-CAMA 2023 in Genoa, November 17st 2023
Our chair Prof.ssa Micaela Liberti has been invited to participate at the annual Meeting of the Italian URSI Committee – CAMA, with a presentation titled “The URSI Women in Radio Science (WIRS) initiative and the URSI WIRS Italian Chapter”.
